It’s considered one of the oldest sports in America. Played by American Indians and discovered by European Settlers the sport received its name from French explorers. Known as “the fastest game on foot,” it’s fast paced,
action-oriented and relies on stick handling skills. Continuing to gain in popularity it attracts some 300,000 plus players and offers two pro leagues. In Phoenix, the team owner is Wayne Gretzky. In Texas, efforts are underway to
bring a team to Dallas.
Lacrosse in Katy
Historically a popular sport at exclusive prep schools mainly on the East Coast, lacrosse made its way to Katy when the James E. Taylor Club (JET Lax) began in 2003. Cinco Ranch High School followed two years later, starting a

they are self- supporting.
